A Celebration of Craft, Creativity & Connection — Happy 79th Birthday, Bill!

Today we’re raising a toast — and a whole lot of love — to Bill Skinner, the beating heart of our studio and the creative spirit behind everything we do. As Bill turns 79 this year, we’re taking a moment to reflect on his remarkable journey, the story of the brand he founded, and the vibrant studio family that carries his legacy forward.

The Early Years & A Lifelong Passion for Craft

Bill’s story begins with a lifelong fascination with creativity, craftsmanship, and the natural world. After studying at Sir John Cass College of Art, he honed his talents in London’s iconic Hatton Garden — the heart of jewellery design and making in the UK. Early on, Bill’s skill and vision marked him as a rising star: he became a sought-after freelance designer for global names such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Asprey, and Garrards

The 1980s saw Bill expand his influence through collaborations with style legends like Butler & Wilson and Vivienne Westwood, forging connections between jewellery, fashion, and cultural expression. Over three decades, his work earned widespread recognition, including prestigious commissions and global acclaim.

From Vision to Namesake Brand

In January 2012, Bill launched his eponymous brand — a bold step that brought decades of design wisdom and artistic integrity into one compelling collection. From the very first season, his distinctive, character-filled jewellery captured international attention, proving that beauty often comes from the unconventional.

Bill’s studio in Kent remains at the core of the creative process. Here, every design is born from Bill’s vision — and often from his own hands — as he continues to carve, invent, and delight. Even now, at 79, Bill is in the studio every week and still deeply involved in designing and crafting the pieces that our customers love to wear.

A Legacy of Joy & Storytelling

Bill often says that jewellery should do more than look beautiful — it should tell a story, connect people, and make moments unforgettable. As we celebrate his 79th year, we honour that philosophy and the countless pieces that have brought joy to wearers around the world.

Here’s to Bill — to the inspiration he is, the craftsmanship he embodies, and the stories we’ve yet to tell. 🥂
